Day 5

It's been a little harder to get internet access than we thought it would be. Right now we are in Lubbock, Texas and our camp site has free wi-fi. Sweet!

We've driven close to 1500 miles so far. We're aiming for about 300 miles a day, but the first day we went twice as far. At this point we haven't seen a WHOLE lot. Besides what's on the road that is. We did the Grand Canyon, Petrified Forest, saw Lake Havasu and the original London Bridge, and a couple other random things. Now we're in Texas and headed for Dallas next. We're planning on spending a couple of days in Texas just to explore and drive a little less (although it's a huge state, not like we have too much of a choice).

Our first night we actually ended up staying at a Motel 6 instead of camping. We went up this mountain following directions to what was supposed to be a campsite. About 20 minutes up a one lane dirt road our GPS told us to stop and there was nothing there. After a 10 point u-turn we made it back down the mountain and continued on farther down the road to a motel (by this time it was almost 11pm). We were definitely kind of discouraged and afraid that finding a campsite every night was going to be too hard.

But the next night we discovered the KOA Kampgrounds. A chain all over the US. Much easier to find and all have bathrooms and showers. The one we're at right now even has a pool and wi-fi! So no more worries on that part. At the first place we arrived after dark and it was really windy. We couldn't figure out how the heck to set up our tent. After 20 minutes of struggle a really nice guy came over and helped us. It really wasn't tough, we just didn't know what we were doing. But now we're pro at tent setting up. Haha yay to that!

Not an overly exciting update as we've mostly just been driving at this point. But now the more fun part is just ahead of us!

Pictures to come later, I can't seem to upload them at the moment.
